The primary purpose of ProTech® accumulators is to catch and hold any unused portion of the system charge. They also prevent liquid slugging of the compressor and excessive refrigerant dilution of the compressor oil. The accumulator ensures that refrigerant and oil are returned to the compressor at a sufficient rate.
